Presentations at schools

Interactive presentations for school children The Hanseatic Way

Aiming to increase the interest of children and youth in European cultural heritage and expand the audiences of early music, the artistic leader of the project, Rodrigo Calveyra, will visit schools of each country and the city in which the concerts of the project will be performed, to make a multimedia presentation of The Hanseatic Way – the talk will be specially created for children, with visual material, audio fragments and live examples of music. Children will be encouraged to answer questions and will receive souvenirs, reminding them of where they can find out more about the project. Children will be invited to come to a concert or listen to a live broadcast on the special mobile phone application ERP Live.

In the first part of the presentation, Mr Calveyra will explain the historical circumstances in which the Hanseatic League was created, answering questions of what it was, how and why it was established. Formation, climax and decline of the League will be contextualised in time. With the help of period maps, Mr Calveyra will point out the main routes between the Hanseatic cities for trading of goods and interchanging of culture. Children will see their country and its Hanseatic cities in the context of the large historical network.

In the second part of the presentation the speaker will present the basic aspects of music created in the Hanseatic League at the end of the sixteenth and beginning of the seventeenth century, thus preparing children for the concert. After a brief presentation of the composers and explaining the notion of the historically informed performance, music examples will be analysed. This will give children practical tools on how to listen to this music and allow them to recognise the analysed elements during the concert.

The presentation will be a Power Point file, with Data Show and amplification media.
